Michael P. Petrogeorge
Mr. Petrogeorge is a shareholder in the firm's Litigation department, specializing in real estate litigation and general civil litigation. He also maintains a practice in Utah liquor licensing.
In the area of real estate litigation, Mr. Petrogeorge handles a broad array of disputes involving various subject matters, including breach of real estate contracts, liens enforcement and defense, easements, boundary disputes, partitions, fraudulent transfers, nuisance, trespass, and commercial and residential landlord/tenant disputes. He is also a general commercial litigator having litigated numerous general civil litigation matters involving a wide range of issues including breach of contract, unfair trade practices, unjust enrichment, fraud/misrepresentation, misappropriation of confidential and trade secret information, executive compensation and termination, breach of fiduciary duties and other torts. Mr. Petrogeorge has served as the first and second chair in numerous bench and jury trials in multiple forums (state and federal) and has successfully briefed and argued appeals before a variety of courts including the Utah Supreme Court and the Utah Court of Appeals. He has also assisted a number of clients in obtaining restaurant or club licenses from the Utah Department of Alcohol Beverage Control and provides general legal advice to his small business clients.
Mr. Petrogeorge is a member of the firm's board of directors. Prior to his board election in January 2012, Mr. Petrogeorge served as the practice group leader of the firm’s Real Estate Litigation practice group, and on the firm’s recruiting committee. He has been an adjunct professor at the University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney College of Law and previously served as a law clerk for the Honorable Stephen H. Anderson on the United States Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Petrogeorge is active in the community, serving on the board of directors for the United Way, on the board of trustees for the Utah Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (which he chaired from 2014-2016), and and on the board of trustees for the Elyse Pantke White Foundation. He has previously served as chair of the Litigation Section of the Utah State Bar, chair of the Salt Lake CAP Head Start Advisory Board, on the University of Utah Young Alumni Board and as co-chair of the Utah State Bar Annual Meeting Program Committee. He is a 2008 alumni of the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Utah.
