Bill Evans is a shareholder of Parsons Behle & Latimer who practices in the areas of intellectual property and energy and utility law. He is a graduate of the University of Utah College of Law with an undergraduate degree in music. Mr. Evans' intellectual property practice evolved from his first career as a composer of music for films, records, and many award-winning television commercials. He serves as legal counsel for authors, publishers, artists, composers, filmmakers, producers, and financial institutions in all kinds of transactions relating to copyrights and the arts. His litigation experience includes representing clients in matters of copyright and trademark infringement, rights of privacy and publicity, unfair competition, and arts-related business disputes.

Mr. Evans is an adjunct professor of law at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, where he teaches a course in intellectual property licensing. He serves on the board of trustees for the Utah Lawyers for the Arts and enjoys lecturing on copyright and art law.

In his energy and utility law practice, Mr. Evans represents clients in matters involving the regulation of electric, natural gas, and telecommunications utilities. He has practiced before Public Service Commissions in Utah and Nevada and before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in cases involving the development of renewable energy resources, public utility rates, interconnection agreements, power purchase and supply contracts, certificates of public convenience and necessity, and other state and federal regulatory compliance matters. He has also been active in developing legislative solutions for the firm’s energy and utility clients and is a registered lobbyist in the state of Utah.
