John R. Lund, a shareholder in the firm's Salt Lake City office, was inducted into the International Academy of Trial Lawyers (IATL) at its Mid-Year Meeting on July 27-31, 2016 in Park City, Utah. Fellowship in the Academy is by invitation only and is limited to 500 active trial lawyers from the United States.
The Academy identifies and honors, through a comprehensive screening process, lawyers who have achieved a career of excellence through skill and ability in jury trials, trials before the court, and appellate practice. Members are engaged in civil practice for both plaintiffs and defendants, and the trial of criminal cases. The Academy invites only lawyers who have attained the highest level of advocacy. Lund has been evaluated by his colleagues and the judges in his jurisdiction and has been recommended as possessing these qualifications and characteristics.
Chartered in 1954, the Academy’s general purposes are to cultivate the science of jurisprudence, promote reforms in the law, facilitate the Administration of Justice, and elevate the standards of integrity, honor and courtesy in the legal profession.
Lund’s 30 year practice is focused on challenging litigation and trial work throughout the Intermountain West where he has successfully tried cases involving ski resorts, real estate, products, catastrophic injuries, construction defects, intellectual property and insurance bad faith. He currently serves as president-elect for the Utah State Bar, as a member of the Utah Judicial Council and as chair of the advisory committee on evidence for the Utah Supreme Court.
