Michael R. Brown is a member of Parsons Behle & Latimer’s Real Estate & Finance, Bankruptcy, and Corporate practice groups. Michael represents both buyers and sellers in commercial transactions and assists businesses with compliance and operational matters. Additionally, Michael has the knowledge and skills to guide lenders and borrowers through commercial restructuring and all aspects of bankruptcy proceedings.

Michael’s real estate practice includes selling, leasing, acquiring, developing, and entitling property of all types. Michael has experience negotiating, structuring, and performing due diligence on a wide variety of complex real estate transactions.

Michael’s commercial clients range from small businesses to large industrial enterprises and include manufacturing, mining, and agricultural companies. Michael advises on issues related to insolvency, corporate structure, and compliance with both state and federal regulations. Michael routinely helps his clients to gain a better understanding of novel or developing areas of law and potential outcomes for their businesses.

Michael advises clients on foreclosures, secured transactions, workouts, tenancy, and creditor/debtor issues. Michael is heavily involved in the bankruptcy community and represents both local and national parties before the bankruptcy court on chapter 11, chapter 7, and chapter 13 matters.

Michael received his JD with high honors from the University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney College of Law. While in law school, Michael served as Executive Text Editor for the Utah Law Review and as a judicial extern for The Honorable Scott M. Matheson Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Before joining Parsons Behle & Latimer, Michael gained valuable experience as a judicial clerk to The Honorable Joel T. Marker of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Utah.
