Lane Chitwood concentrates his practice on intellectual property and technology transactions.

He regularly drafts and negotiates agreements at the intersection of IP and commercial transactions, often working closely with client procurement and sales representatives, including on license agreements (e.g. software, semiconductor IP block and materials loan agreements), software audits, services agreements and non-disclosure agreements. Lane also has experience supporting IP-intensive transactions such as patent cross-licenses and collaborative development agreements as well as due diligence and deal terms for mergers and acquisitions.

Lane recently rejoined the firm after nearly seven years as in-house counsel for a Fortune 500 semiconductor company, serving as embedded licensing counsel to business units each earning quarterly revenues of more than $1 billion. When advising business leaders, Lane prioritizes careful communication to pragmatically mitigate risk and a bias towards action to efficiently achieve business objectives.

Lane also draws on corporate experience to offer counsel in specific additional areas, such as (1) memberships in standard-setting organizations and consortia, (2) policy and training on trade secrets and confidentiality, (3) assignments of inventions in employment agreements, and (4) trademark portfolio management and licensing.
