Parsons Behle & Latimer (Parsons) is pleased to announce the addition of attorney John M. Newman, to its Intermountain Region attorney bench as an of counsel attorney. The firm continues to grow its depth of experience and broad range of capabilities in complex litigation and government-related matters while strengthening client support across multiple jurisdictions. “John is an outstanding addition to our Missoula office, bringing a rare combination of federal litigation experience, land use insight and courtroom skill,” says Ross P. Keogh, managing shareholder of Parsons Behle & Latimer’s Missoula office. “His background and judgment strengthen our ability to serve Montana clients with complex disputes and regulatory matters and further enhance the depth of talent available locally.”

Newman joins Parsons Behle & Latimer as of counsel in the Missoula office, where he focuses his practice on land use, real property disputes, commercial and employment litigation, personal injury and plaintiffs’ litigation and environmental matters. With more than six years of experience as a former Assistant United States Attorney, Newman has handled a broad array of civil cases involving the federal government, including easement and title disputes, employment discrimination and environmental issues. He has tried cases in both state and federal court and argued before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and earlier served as a law clerk to a U.S. district court judge. Newman also brings unique insights from his previous work as a land use planner and planning board member. He says, “As I considered leaving the Department of Justice, Parsons’s depth of expertise and strong presence throughout the Intermountain West made it the only choice for me. The firm’s reach and clientele dovetail perfectly with my government-focused practice, particularly with respect to matters in federal court involving federal agencies. I look forward to putting my years of experience representing the United States to work for existing Parsons’ clients and for new clients to come.

“Adding attorneys of John’s caliber reinforces our firm’s commitment to providing thoughtful, strategic legal counsel that meets the evolving needs of our clients,” Parsons’ CEO and Chairperson Shawn C. Ferrin says. “His diverse background and proven track record of service align with our focus on practical results and strong client relationships.”

Parsons and its attorneys strive to combine deep regional knowledge with broad legal expertise, supporting clients across the Intermountain Region and beyond. The firm welcomes John to our Missoula office and looks forward to his contributions to the firm and the communities we serve.
