Parsons Behle & Latimer board member, shareholder and employment and labor attorney Liz M. Mellem has been appointed co-chair of TerraLex’s Labor & Employment Practice Group, a global network of employment lawyers who collaborate on cross-border workforce and labor matters.
Mellem’s employment and labor practice focuses on counseling employers on workplace issues; conducting neutral workplace investigations; defending harassment and discrimination claims; handling wrongful termination matters; reviewing and revising employee handbooks; and providing employment practices training. She also represents clients in a broad range of commercial litigation matters.
A significant part of Mellem’s practice has been built around helping Montana and Utah employers understand and manage evolving workplace requirements. She regularly participates in Parsons’ annual Employment Law Seminars, where she presents practical employment-law topics and helps business owners and human resources professionals understand legal best practices for employers. Her presentations emphasize practical risk management, sound documentation, workplace policies, investigations and other steps employers can take to prevent and address workplace disputes.
Mellem’s commitment to Montana extends beyond her legal practice. She serves as the chairperson of the board of directors of the Missoula Economic Partnership and has been active with the Humane Society of Western Montana, where she served on the board and as board president.
“I’m honored and pleased to take on this role with TerraLex and to have the opportunity to serve Parsons and the state of Montana in this new capacity,” Mellem said. “TerraLex brings together talented lawyers from around the world, and I look forward to working with colleagues across the network to share ideas, strengthen our collective employment-law resources and help clients navigate the increasingly complex workplace landscape.”
