SALT LAKE CITY — June 30, 2023 In 2023, Parsons Behle & Latimer (Parsons) again enthusiastically participated in the Utah Minority Bar Association’s (UMBA) Juneteenth Fundraiser. This year, funds raised were donated to the No More a Stranger Foundation (NOMAS). Of the $25,223 total raised for NOMAS, Parsons was the leading law firm with $12,043 donated – nearly triple the amount of the next-closest law firm.
NOMAS is a nonprofit that offers legal services to immigrant, migrant and refugee populations in the areas of naturalization, family-sponsored visas and asylum. Parsons’ attorney Alex Vandiver and Parsons’ DE&I committee members and Attorneys of Color Group organized week-long donation activities that culminated in an auction of goods and services contributed by Parsons’ attorneys and professional staff. The total amount of funds raised will, among other activities, enable NOMAS to continue to offer its Logan clinic for at least as additional year.
Parsons‘ attorney and Juneteenth Fundraiser coordinator Alex Vandiver says, “Parsons Behle & Latimer has shown up and won the fundraiser for two years in a row. We will be going for another win next year.”
On June 22, UMBA presented Parsons with a trophy for the firm’s fundraising efforts. The UMBA trophy is proudly and prominently displayed in Parsons’ Salt Lake City office lobby, and Team Parsons’ has already begun preparing items for auction for next year’s fundraising event.
Nicole G. Farrell, Parsons’ chief people officer says, “I would encourage all of Utah’s law firms to support the UMBA and its Juneteenth Fundraising initiative. Together, we can make a sizeable impact for minority and underserved populations in the state of Utah. I am proud of my colleagues for their generous contributions.”
