Biography
Corey is an associate attorney in the Salt Lake City office of Parsons Behle & Latimer. His practice is focused on employment litigation and advising employers on state and federal employment law issues. Corey also maintains a dedicated labor practice, assisting employers with union recognition, elections, collective bargaining and other aspects of labor relations.
In his employment law practice, Corey has helped employers achieve dismissal and resolution of discrimination, retaliation, harassment and other claims arising under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical and Leave Act and other major state and federal employment statutes. The ability to spot both procedural and substantive issues in claims leveled against employers helps Corey efficiently dispose of such claims, often in the early stages of litigation. Corey also remains current on state and federal employment law developments to accurately advise employers regarding internal policies and employee handbooks. Experienced with non-compete disputes, Corey litigates and advises regarding non-compete agreements and their breaches.
In his labor practice, Corey assists employers with voluntary and traditional union recognition processes. He advises employers regarding timelines and other expectations for collective bargaining; key considerations in building collective bargaining agreements that preserve employers’ rights; and how to bargain effectively and in good faith. Corey pairs knowledge of National Labor Relations Act requirements with practical experience with National Labor Relations Board enforcement to help clients achieve smooth, respectful bargaining. Individuals and clients who work with Corey appreciate his responsiveness and ability to anticipate needs and issues before they develop.
Outside of work, Corey enjoys sampling trails, roads and slopes throughout the Mountain West aboard his skis and bicycles. Corey is an accomplished marathon runner and Boston Marathon qualifier and has won minor Utah road and trail races.
