Capabilities

Biography

Ms. Mallard brings to her practice the wisdom and skills she learned during more than a decade as a trial court judge. Handling primarily family law and domestic violence cases on the bench, she is a master in the nuances of family law practice and litigation. She provides clients the professional and compassionate service they need in the difficult process of separating a family.

Also a deeply-experienced litigator, Ms. Mallard has tried many cases to a successful conclusion before juries in federal and state courts during her time as an assistant United States attorney for the District of Idaho and as a county prosecutor. Her cases included both complex and simple matters such as tax code violations, health care fraud, bank fraud and environmental crimes. Her meticulous work in trial court has resulted in successes in appellate courts, including a number of published opinions from the Idaho Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Bringing courtroom expertise from both the bench and the Bar, and in both federal and state courts, Ms. Mallard is capable of trying any case with a 360-degree view of the matter. Due to this experience, she is also a mentor, by invitation, to the Idaho State Bar Trial Skills Academy.

Additionally, Ms. Mallard is a practiced mediator who understands the motivations of parties in conflict and uses her creativity and experience to guide parties to solutions.

A sixth-generation Idahoan, Ms. Mallard loves her community. She is a Paul Harris fellow in her Idaho Falls Rotary Club; an active member of her Eagle Rock Inns of Court; and has recently been given awards of appreciation for her service to the Department of Health and Welfare Region Seven Behavioral Health Board and to the Idaho Judiciary by the Idaho State Bar. Perhaps most treasured is the handmade token of appreciation from the participants of the Domestic Violence Drug Court over which she presided. She is a member of ElevateHer with the Idaho Falls Symphony, which seeks to promote opportunities for women in the musical arts. In her spare time, she loves reading, listening to podcasts and throwing parties.
