Kerry Owens is a shareholder and former chairperson of Parsons Behle & Latimer’s real estate and finance practice team. His practice concentrates on transactions representing owners, buyers, sellers and investors in acquiring, developing, permitting, financing, leasing and selling real estate for industrial, commercial, residential and utility-scale renewable energy projects.

Kerry Owens concentrates his practice in transactions involving real estate purchase, sale, development, zoning and permitting, financing and leasing.
Mr. Owens has been lead real estate counsel for numerous utility-scale renewable energy projects on private, state and federal lands including site evaluation, leasing, easements, permitting, development, disposition, financing, reserved minerals and title matters.
Mr. Owens regularly advises clients in connection with the purchase and sale of different types of real property, including commercial buildings, industrial properties, residential developments and unimproved land. He represents both tenants and landlords in connection with the negotiation and documentation of commercial leases.
Mr. Owens’ has extensive experience in a broad range of land use and regulatory matters, including zoning, real estate and natural resources, infrastructure and development. He regularly represents developers in obtaining entitlements from local governments. Mr. Owens also represents property owners in the negotiation, siting and acquisition of commercial, industrial and residential developments; obtaining water rights, utilities and rights of way; resolution of title defects and disputes; and advising on sales of properties ranging from single parcels to large, multi-phased and multi-use developments.

Solar Energy Acquisition
Represented buyer in acquisition of multiple utility scale solar projects totaling over 350MW and involving private, state and BLM land. Since acquisition, finalized permitting, land acquisition, environmental, title, and tax issues.
Renewable Energy
Represented client in securing construction financing and in the sale of equity in multiple utility scale solar projects totaling more than 350MW, and private, state and BLM land.
Sale of One of the World's Largest Gold Companies to Junior Mining Company
Represented client in sale of a gold mine to a junior mining company. Structured the sale, negotiated/documented all aspects of the transaction, including a private placement and the payment of a mine mortgage.
