Biography

Stewart Merrick is a member of Parsons Behle & Latimer’s Energy, Environmental and Natural Resources practice team where he advises clients on complex commercial transactions involving the development, regulation and operation of large infrastructure projects. Prior to joining Parsons Behle & Latimer, Stewart served as general counsel to a major interstate pipeline company in the Intermountain West. Stewart was also in-house counsel for more than a decade to one of the largest natural gas transportation and midstream companies in the United States, serving as both senior counsel and managing attorney. Stewart has extensive expertise in the legal issues faced by major infrastructure companies, including drafting commercial agreements, permitting and regulatory compliance.

Further, Stewart advises clients in the natural gas industry on a variety of matters, including:

  • Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issues, including rate cases, standards of conduct, and certificate filings
  • Gas gathering and processing agreements
  • NAESB agreements
  • Pipeline connection agreements
