Parsons Behle & Latimer (Parsons) attorney Erik A. Christiansen has been elected to represent District 17 as a member of the American Bar Association (ABA) Board of Governors for the 2024 – 2027 term. District 17 includes Utah, Idaho, Nevada and Hawaii.

Christiansen says, “Parsons Behle & Latimer has a long tradition of service in the ABA at the highest levels of leadership, and I am honored to continue the dedicated service and honor the legacy of the late James E. Lee and Calvin A. Behle of our Salt Lake City office and Rew Goodenow of our Reno office, all of whom previously served on the ABA Board of Governors”

Christiansen previously served as Utah State Bar president from June 29, 2023, to June 29, 2024. He is a bet-the-company litigator with more than 30 years of experience in high-stakes litigation. His extensive experience encompasses a wide range of complex, high-dollar commercial litigation matters, including securities, multi-level marketing, financial fraud, trade secrets and regulatory defense litigation matters. His service with the ABA has been extensive. Among other roles, Christiansen previously served as a member of the ABA Standing Committee on Membership, as a Utah State Bar Delegate to the American Bar Association House of Delegates, as a Member of the ABA House of Delegates Select Committee, as the Utah State Membership Chair for the ABA, and as regional co-chair for Utah for the ABA Judicial Intern Opportunity Program.

Parsons’ CEO and Chairperson Shawn C. Ferrin says, “Parsons encourages our attorneys at every level to support our local and national professional institutions. Erik clearly sets the standard. In addition to being one of Parsons’ most respected attorneys, he dedicates hundreds of hours of personal time to the American Bar Association, to the Utah State Bar, and as an adjunct professor and mentor to law students at the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah. We appreciate his commitment and the example he sets.”

Per the ABA website, the ABA was founded in 1878 on a commitment to set the legal and ethical foundation for the nation. Today, it exists as a membership organization and stands committed to its mission of defending liberty and pursuing justice.
