On April 27, Parsons Behle & Latimer (Parsons) was pleased to welcome and partner with World Trade Center Utah (WTCU) in hosting its “Crossroads of the World: Kazakhstan” event. Attendees included Consul General of Kazakhstan Nazira Nurbayeva; CEO of Xander Group Iskander Akylbayev; Director of Partner Relations WTCU Michelle Conley; Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity (GOEO) Lance Soffe. Parsons’ representatives included CEO and Chairperson Shawn C. Ferrin, Shareholder J. Michael Bailey and Chief Business Development Officer Jason Castor.

Meeting discussions focused on strengthening economic and trade relationships between Utah and Kazakhstan, exploring potential areas for collaboration and exchanging insights on current business environments. Attendees enjoyed a luncheon followed by an economic roundtable discussion.

Parsons takes great pride in working alongside organizations like WTCU, GOEO and The Salt Lake Chamber that share Parsons’ beliefs in fostering international opportunity, innovation and driving business growth on a global stage. Having started as a law firm in 1882 that not only supported mining companies but also helped found what is known today as Kennecott Utah Copper – a global mining company that has supplied metals around the world for more than 100 years – Parsons understands well the impact and opportunity of global commerce. Now owned by an international mining conglomerate, Kennecott Utah Copper remains a Parsons’ client today.

Parsons continues to grow and scale globally with our clients today and appreciates the opportunity to host these discussions that will help drive global collaboration and economic development opportunities for the state of Utah into the future.
