Lynn R. Cardey-Yates
Lynn Cardey-Yates is of counsel in the firm’s Environmental, Energy & Natural Resources Department in the firm’s Salt Lake City office.
Prior to joining the firm, Lynn served as the Vice President, Sustainable Development for Rio Tinto Kennecott. In that role, she led Kennecott’s health, safety, permitting and environmental teams, oversaw energy programs, and managed all water and land resources, including the award winning Daybreak master planned community.
During her time at Rio Tinto Kennecott, Lynn also served as Vice President – Legal of Rio Tinto Kennecott Utah Copper, and as Vice President and General Counsel of the historic Kennecott group of companies, with responsibility for all legal issues for that group.
Lynn currently is a member of the Executive Committee of the American Exploration and Mining Association and was a Trustee of the organization's Board. Lynn has served as a board member of The Nature Conservancy in Utah and trustee-at-large of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation.
Before joining Kennecott in 1993, Lynn was a partner and member of the board of directors at Parsons Behle & Latimer in Salt Lake City and a partner at Burns, Wall, Smith & Muller in Denver. She earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver, College of Law.
