Mr. Neilson is a member of the firm’s corporate restructuring and Chapter 11 bankruptcy team and focuses his practice on distressed businesses. He has substantial experience representing debtors, unsecured creditors, secured creditors, trustees and creditors' committees in Chapter 11 reorganization cases and Chapter 7 liquidation cases. Mr. Neilson also has expertise in general assignments for the benefits of creditors (ABCs), receiverships and other forms of voluntary and involuntary workouts. He frequently engages in complex commercial litigation in United States Bankruptcy Courts and other forums across the country to achieve client goals. He has restructured businesses in a variety of industries including retail, manufacturing, tech, commercial and residential real estate and healthcare. As an adjunct to his reorganization experience, Darren also routinely represents businesses in a wide range of matters, including mergers and acquisitions, complex transactions, capital formation, contracts and a variety of other general transactional and business matters. Mr. Neilson offices in St. George, Utah and represents Parsons Behle & Latimer in its expansion into southern Utah.
Mr. Neilson is a litigator at heart and is at his best when helping clients navigate the complex and foreign landscape of litigation. Mr. Neilson has vast experience in litigation in both state and federal courts.
Prior to joining Parsons Behle and Latimer, Mr. Neilson was an attorney at the bankruptcy boutique firm of Brutzkus Gubner in Los Angeles and Kirton McConkie in Salt Lake City. Immediately prior to joining Parsons Behle and Latimer, Mr. Neilson was a solo practitioner at the Neilson Law Group.
Mr. Neilson earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Brigham Young University and a J.D. from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. Mr. Neilson also has a master’s degree in Dispute Resolution from the Pepperdine School of Law.
Mr. Neilson is also a small business owner and is the proud owner of an Orangetheory Fitness facility in St. George.
An avid golfer, Mr. Neilson and his brother have nearly reached their goal of golfing every golf course in the state of Utah.
