Requirements:

Water Law

  • Prepare and file applications and requests with the Utah State Engineer
  • Participate in adjudicative proceedings before the Utah State Engineer
  • Support water-related litigation through research and drafting briefs
  • Prepare and defend claims in water right general adjudications
  • Advise clients regarding management and use of water rights
  • Assist with water transactions, including conducting due diligence, valuing water rights, and drafting purchase and sale agreements and leases
  • Advise regarding construction and real estate agreements related to water infrastructure projects

Real Estate

  • Assist with real property transactions, including drafting purchase and sale agreements
  • Counsel clients in real estate matters
  • Assist clients with securing land use approvals and entitlements for development projects
  • Draft purchase and sale agreements, leases, easements, and other real estate documents
  • Advise clients regarding buying, selling, leasing, developing, or financing real estate properties
  • Review contracts, negotiate deals, review title commitments and surveys, handle property disputes, and ensure compliance with zoning and land-use regulations
  • Ability to assist with the closing process, including preparation and review of closing documents

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Utah water law is highly desirable; however, experience in related legal fields will be considered favorably (e.g., other state water law, real estate, public lands, environmental, or litigation)
  • Broad experience in commercial real estate and land use planning
  • Experience with laws applicable to Utah political subdivisions, including the Administrative Procedures Act, Open and Public Meetings Act, and laws applicable to municipalities, counties, districts, and interlocal entities

Records Clerk in Salt Lake City, Utah

Parsons Behle & Latimer is seeking a full-time Records Clerk in the Salt Lake City, Utah office to assist with scanning, records storage and retrieval. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with hourly rate of $18 hr. Position requires the ability to lift up to 40 pounds, basic computer knowledge, and ability to type 40 wpm. Law office experience is helpful but not required.

Business Development Manager

Position Summary

Regional law firm Parsons Behle & Latimer (Parsons or Firm) is seeking a strong and dynamic business development and marketing leader to join the Firm in support of its more than 210 attorneys in 11 offices throughout five states in the Intermountain West.

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for implementing and creating business development initiatives that will expand existing client relationships, attract new clients, build the Firm’s profile and strengthen its reputation. The BDM will work closely with members of the business development and marketing team, attorneys, and the Firm’s leadership to advance Parsons’ strategic business development priorities. The BDM reports directly to the Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) based in Salt Lake City, who is responsible for the Firm’s business development and marketing initiatives. This in person position requires the BDM to work from the office four out of five days per week.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Play a pivotal role in the strategic leadership and delivery of regional and national business development activities, including driving strategic initiatives designed to maintain, increase, and in some instances, enter new markets and industry sectors.
  • Work with and provide support to the CBDO, Department Heads and Office Managing Shareholders on targeted business development initiatives.
  • In collaboration with the CBDO, coach and train associate attorneys regarding business development, marketing strategies and best practices through the Firm’s Associate Business Development & Marketing Initiative.
  • Work with the CBDO to develop a targeted internal cross-selling program between departments and offices.
  • Work with the CBDO to enhance the Firm’s client service program, including an “onboarding welcome experience”, client interviews, client feedback surveys, and a formalized process for issuing thank you communications at the conclusion of matters.
  • Work with and assist the Marketing and Communications Director on the creation of targeted, well-written marketing materials, competitive intelligence and associated research, and the submission of RFPs, pitches, and presentation materials.
  • Conduct market analysis, industry and competitive intelligence research reports in support of new business development opportunities.
  • Serve as front-line project coordinator on incoming business development initiatives from conception to completion to ensure efficiency, quality and timely delivery.
  • Manage logistics associated with Firm-hosted and sponsored events for assigned departments while collaborating with the business development and marketing team and attorneys to ensure events are leveraged for building new and strengthening existing client relationships.
  • Collaborate with the CBDO, Marketing and Communications Director, office managing shareholders, and Firm leadership to increase Parsons’ visibility and reputation throughout its geographic footprint via potential sponsorships, targeted events, organization/trade association memberships, and awards and recognitions.
  • Plan and execute targeted conferences, client development events, webinars and other Firm-hosted events while serving as the Firm’s business development representative.
  • Other business development, marketing and client service duties as assigned. 

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with five or more years of business development and marketing experience, preferably in the legal industry, or a professional services firm. Applicants with fundraising experience in the non-profit sector will also be considered.
  • Proven ability to build relationships both internally with attorneys and professional staff, and externally with clients, prospective clients, trade associations and community partners.
  • Proven track record of developing and administering successful business development, marketing and client service programs.
  • Consistently demonstrate a strong customer service orientation and attitude both within and outside of the Firm.
  • Ability to work in both a strong team-based environment and independently.
  • Strong strategy development, critical thinking, creativity, writing and general business skills, as well as excellent managerial and communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits

Parsons offers a competitive salary dependent upon education and relevance of prior work experience. The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $100,000 negotiable, depending on experience and qualifications.

Parsons Behle & Latimer has an opening for a part-time Office Services | Hospitality Clerk in our Reno, Nevada office. The position requires the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members. In addition to organizational skills and strong attention to detail, the ideal candidate must be customer-service oriented with effective communication skills and a willingness to go above and beyond to assist whenever needed.

This is an in-office position, and the available shift hours are preferably 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. daily. The minimum hourly rate is negotiable commensurate with experience, starting at $19.00 an hour. The successful candidate must have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
